Updated 16.15 11th January, below] Human remains found yesterday, 9th January, in woodland near Arrochar, are said by Police Scotland not to be those of the murdered Edinburgh woman, Suzanne Pilley.

Ms Pilley’s body has never been found but has been thought to have been disposed of in Argyll in an areas which could have included Arrochar. Her former lover, David Gilroy has been convicted of her murder and is currently serving a life sentence.

The remains were found near the A83, which would tend to suggest that they are not likely to be those of  any injured walker. The gender of the deceased cannot yet be identified.

Police Scotland inquiries continue.

Update 21.00:  It now appears that the remains found are of a woman.

Update 16.15 11th January: It is now suggested that the remains of the woman found near Arrochar might be those of the missing 22 year old student at Edinburgh University,  Yulia Solodyankina, who went missing after 7th June, having been understood by Police to have got on a bus at Buchanan Bus Station whose destination was Argyll or Lochaber.
